Ramen Infographic
AR • 3D
Duration: 4 Weeks
Materials/Programs:
A personal project for students to explore the capabilities of extended reality.
This ramen infographic is an exploration in displaying information in an immersive and interactive way. Its purpose is to provide background information on the various ingredients found commonly in ramen, but also creates a visual 3D sculpture viewed in AR.

Sketch & Research
The initial sketch for the project showed it being more of a VR sculpture. A suggestion I received from a classmate was using the sculpture as an informative piece to teach audiences about each of the ingredients. This would create a deeper purpose to the sculpture and turn the experience from entertainment to educational.
Production
The ramen bowl and a spilled glass of water in Blender. Only the noodles were made in Adobe Illustrator, turned 3D and brought into Blender. Each of the different pieces were made in individual Blender files and once built were put into one single file for the composition. Once the 3D models were made they were brought into Adobe Dimensions for texturing and then placed in Adobe Aero to place it in AR.

Refinement
One refinement that came up in the course of making the sculpture was how to let the audience know they can click on each of the ingredients. I experimented with various ways available in Adobe Aero to create an indicator for audiences to tap on them. A tap icon that was placed over each of the ingredients was the most effective.

Final Product
As an addition to the final product I created a poster for the QR code. The biggest feedback that I got was that it felt intuitive. Many could imagine seeing it at ramen museums* in Japan.
